Teen Mom Recap

Anyone who knows me well .. knows that I am a trash TV addict.
One of my top faves is Teen Mom 2.
PLEASE if you are a Teen Mom 2 fan.. comment. =)
I do not want to talk alone about this.

My opinions on last nights episode.
Janelle - FINALLY! Yes, your boyfriend is an idiot. And you kinda are too. Stick with school and work like you did before. I have a feeling that her "turn around" will last for a whole of 5 mins. Her poor mother. Having Kenzie now I totally get why she keeps letting her back in her home.. but seriously... she just doesn't get it.
Chelsea - She also has a winner for a boyfriend. He talks to Aubree like she really comprehends what he means.. and thrashes her around. Duh! You should have had your Dad there after your surgery. Adam will never be the guy you want him to be.. get over it. He's not even cute.
Kailyn - You should of told your Mom before you moved out. It would have been okay.. instead of just taking all of her furniture and leaving.
Leah - My heart was breaking when her cutie baby had to have her MRI... BrEakIng. .. there may have been tears.. I just love that little peanut.

What did you think of last nights episode?

Goodbye 2011

This has been a great year for The Morris Family and we can't wait to see what 2012 will bring.
- I finished school and earned my Associates of Science Degree in Veterinary Technology
- I got my first job at a veterinarians office
- We found out we were prego
- We found out we were having a girl :)
- Redecorated a room for the baby
- We had our beautiful Kenzie Lee
- Jason's photobooth business continued to thrive
- Jason is down to ONE more semester of school
- We put a bid in on our FIRST house.. fingers crossed

With the good also came the trials..
- We lost my Nana at the beginning of the year
- Kenzie had high levels of jaundice and it was traumatizing for me to have to see her in pain when they drew her blood EVERY day for a week. Now I know what people mean when they wish they could take the pain of their children away. So devastating for me. I know it's super common for newborns but it really broke my little heart.
-Being a Mom.. this is a blessing and a trial.
A trial because I often feel that I'm not doing "things" right..
Am I feeding her enough? Does she need to be on a strict schedule? Why does she have cradle cap? Should I let her cry it out? Is it okay to give her some formula?
I hope I'm not the only one. I am just now starting to feel like I'm getting the hang of it.

We really have been blessed this year and hope that everyone has a very Merry Christmas!
xoxo

Our Weekend in Photos

1. We walked around Cindy Lane (a neighborhood with festive lights).. well drove.
We tried walking but with 2 dogs and a baby it was NOT fun.
Especially if your baby is hungry and screaming.
2. Played with this cutie in her Christmas leg warmers :)
3. Our tree is finally decorated & SOME of the presents are wrapped

What did you do this weekend?

Awkward & Awesome Wednesday

awkward
- a woman pulling a cellphone out of her bra at our ward's Christmas party. Don't get me wrong - it's a nice stash spot.. but at the church Christmas party?

- Women wearing leggings/jeggings... that result in less than desirable visuals. EVERYONE knows what I am talking about
- Playing the "no, you go." *hand wave* "no, you go." *hand wave* with pedestrians as you are driving in a parking lot

Awesome
- Baby girl smiling up a storm lately
- Jason being done with this semester in T-minus 1 day :) I'm SUPER excited about this
- Long showers.. any mom knows this is really awesome
- Setting up our little Christmas tree. It's still not decorated but it's a start

Tasty Tuesday; Easy Sugar Cookies

..I decided to bake sugar cookies. Honestly, the only cookies that ever come out for me are the pre-packaged kind..but these tasted pretty good. They were nothing to write home about, but they were edible which is always an accomplishment for me.

Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). In a small bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in egg and vanilla. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients. Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls, and place onto ungreased cookie sheets (I greased mine).
  3. Bake 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden. Let stand on cookie sheet two minutes before removing to cool on wire racks.

Our Weekend in Photos

1. Tired baby after her first set of shots. More traumatic for Mom than for baby.
2. Lunch date with Dad
3. Smiley girl even after her shots
4. Showing off her cute Christmas bow at the ward Christmas party.

We had a good weekend.
Things will be even better once school is out this week.
I will finally have a husband.

Awkward & Awesome Wednesday

AWKWARD
I don't even know what to say... is the person sitting a man, woman, or alien?

What's with the galaxy motif?
And the cat?

- Almost eating it face first into horse poop while taking family pictures... there was a hole.. i swear
- I am a fan of some PDA.. but there is some PDA that should never happen. Especially in a booth of Red Robin. I wanted to pry my eyeballs out.. but yet I couldn't stop staring.
- Walking out of a building seeing two cop cars.. while stating loudly "What'd I miss?" only to look closer and see a man being arrested in the middle of the street.. oops hope he didn't hear me..

AWESOME
Epic. That is all.
Don't worry I would never do this to Kenzie.

- Date night with hubby that involved a free dinner via his work holiday party
- Ordering Kenzie some awesome bows and flowers.. yes, this makes the list. Don't worry pictures will be shared.
- Netflix. I may have spent an entire day watching Season 1 of The Vampire Diaries.. Team Damon for sure. Anyone else watch this show?

Tasty Tuesday; Potatoes Au Gratin

Yes.. another potato recipe. If you like "funeral potatoes" you will love these.
I may, or may not.. make a huge batch on Sundays and eat it throughout the week.
This was in my Mother-in-law, Sheila's recipe book made by my sister-in-law Kristin..who got it from her Aunt Barbara..get it?

Ingredients
5 TBSP margarine
6 TBSP chopped onions
7 TBSP flour
2 tsp salt
dash of pepper
3 c of milk
8 large potatoes (boiled with skins on)
4 c grated cheese

Melt butter in saucepan. Add onion and cook slowly for 5 minutes. Blend in flour; remove from heat. Add salt and pepper and stir in milk. Cook slowly, stirring until thick. Add cheese, reserving some cheese for the topping. Stir until the cheese is melted. Grease a baking dish. Peel potatoes and slice. Layer potatoes (I usually do 2 layers) and sauce. Top with grated cheese. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes or until bubbly.

Super Yummy! What's your favorite potato recipe?

2 months

Our little boogie is 2 months old... can you believe it? I can't.
Kenzie has started sleeping through the night this past week.
Can I just say.. heaven! I'm so happy to get 4-7 hours of straight sleep.
She smiles all the time. And has started to talk.
She LOVES her bath time. She can be screaming her head off and as soon as she's in the warm water she is a perfect little angel.
Kenzie also loves her rattle... she follows it around when we shake it.
Baby Einstein = baby crack. She will watch it for 10 mins which is a BIG deal for her.
Kenzie is a CUDDLE bug. She prefers to be held rather then being put in her bouncer.
Her changing table is another favorite spot of hers. It's very strange.. but she loves it.
She is wearing 3-6 month clothes. THREE to SIX month... she's only 2 months old. I wish clothing were more accurate that way I didn't have to feel so depressed about her growing up.

Our little K has really been a great baby. We really are blessed to have her. She has taught me so much already and I can't wait to see her grow. . . . just not too fast.
